Diets

Now that New Years is upon us, many have resolved to go on a diet and lose weight. There are just so many diets out there, how do you pick the one that is right for you?

My personal recommendation is to find a plan you will be able to live with - not for just a week or month, but for the rest of your life. One of the best resources for the weight loss secrets - without dieting and harsh exercise or bills is Ultimate Weight Loss Revealed. It is a downloadable ebook, and contains lots of useful information for those who are serious about changing their eating habits.

There is the Atkins diet, which claims you will lose weight by eliminating carbs from your diet. There has been a lot of controversy regarding the safety of this type of dieting. While it does work for many people, there are still many questions regarding the long term affects of eliminating carbs. If you cannot eliminate carbs for the rest of your life, then this may not be the diet for you. This diet is also high in fat and I personally would not recommend it.

Another popular diet is the south beach diet. This one seems to be sensible and not too restrictive. If you are looking form a diet that will help you lose weight in a sensible and healthy way, take a closer look at this one.

There are several other short term diets that I will list here, just in case you want to check them out. Any diet that eliminates entire food groups is generally not very healthy.

The 3 day diet may work for temporary weight loss, but I definitely would not recommend it.

The cabbage soup diet - this one just sounds ridiculous.

The Zone Diet - I am not too familiar with this one, but it seems to be quite popular and has been around for a while.

To sum up, any diet that claims to be a quick weight loss diet, will most likely result in some initial weight loss. In the long run, most people that try these diets will gain all the weight back within a year or less. This is primarily due to the fact that when one "goes off" the diet and back to their normal eating patterns, the weight will come back.
