Healthy Eating Habits You Can Live With this site has great prices on waterless cookware. Cooking with minimum water helps your food retain vitamins and minerals. Just think how much healthier your meals would be if you used a good set of waterless cookware.

Cooking the healthy way - with little or no water has many benefits. It saves money because food shrinks less and less fuel is used in cooking. You save time because you don't need to watch the pot and stir. You save work because the stainless steel pots are easy to clean, dishwasher safe and you don't need to peel your fruits and vegetables.

Scientific studies have shown that waterless cooking saves vitamins and minerals. Foods cook in their own juices and have better flavor, color and texture.

Learning to use waterless cookware is easy. Just keep in mind these basic rules.

1. Always use the right size pan. Select the pan that your food will most nearly fill. If the pan is too large there will be air pockets and this can dry your food or possibly cause it to burn. For best results the pan should be about 2/3 full.
2. Rinse prepared fruits and vegetables. Rinsing in cold water and then draining is important because it removes harmful chemicals that may have been sprayed on the food and it allows enough water to cling to the food to combine with the natural juices and cook your food in its own steam.
3. Control the heat. Always control the heat throughout the cooking process. If the heat is too high, the steam evaporates and your food burns. Never put heat higher than Medium.
4. Get a vapor seal. Start cooking on medium heat until the steam control valve whistles. Then turn the heat down to low or simmer and close the valve. When you do this the lid forms an air-tight seal. It can take about 3-5 minutes for the valve whistles depending on the type of food you are cooking. Generally, the more water the food contains, the faster the steam valve will whistle.
5. Don't Peek. This is vey important, but you must resist the urge to peek. When the cover is removed while cooking, heat and steam are allowed to escape. This lengthens the cooking time and dries out the food.
6. Vacuum release in knob. If lids lock on when food is done, simply open the valve to release the vacuum and remove the lid.
